About
Hola! I’m Tatiana E. Laban. I answer to the name Tatiana, Tati and Tat. And occasionally, Emelia. Not sure why some people call me by my middle name when Tatiana is clearly my first name. They even ask, “So what do I call you? Tatiana or Emelia?” Fail.
I graduated from Multimedia University with a Bachelors Honours Degree in Digital Media in August 2007. I hail from the quiet and peaceful town of Sandakan, Sabah, Malaysia. I am currently based in Kuala Lumpur.
I’m a graphic minimalist when it comes to design and a believer in keeping things sweet and simple. I love putting personal touches to my work and I am more into the significance of content than producing fancy graphics. I also find good typography sexy. I have great interest in making personal differences in people’s lives through my work. I specialise in Graphic Design – I design magazines, book covers, brochures, posters, and everything under the light of Graphic Design. I am most familiar with Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. And I love my job!
I am a team player who conceptualises and solves problems better by discussing ideas to achieve the best results – I enjoy listening to ideas as well as giving my inputs. My greatest concern is making sure that the clients like what they see. I was previously linked to a publishing company in Singapore where I had been a Feature Writer for its in-house tabloid, The Food Newsgazine, in 2008. Working in a relatively small team, I did most of the writing, and assisted in the editing and proof-reading of the magazine articles. I was also largely involved in the magazine layout design as well as other creative projects.
I am a full-time Creative Designer for MPH Group Magazine (Malaysia). Even so, I still like doing small design projects outside my working hours. So if you need a designer to hire, drop me a line, and I’ll work according to your budget :)
